Journey to south India

I fly to South India this week for a three-week visit. I’ve wanted to make such a trip for many years. This is my first experience in Asia. I hope to experience several live music performances and, beyond that, to drink deeply from the well of south Indian culture.

The primary goal is to attend the wedding of a friend in Chennai, but the stars have aligned themselves so that friends will be able to show us around ancient temples and archaeological sites to the south, and the bustling westernized Mumbai on the west coast. The Caravan radio program will doubtless be enriched as a result.
